Investigating Liquids
How long will it take for the marble to reach the bottom of the cup?
As a conclusion to Outdoor Science for half of the children in Year One, this week we investigated the viscosity of liquids. We dropped a marble into three different cups of liquids - water, oil and washing up liquid - and timed how long the marble took to drop to the bottom. We made predictions, talked about how we would make sure it was a fair test and then carried out our investigation in groups. Our results showed us that the washing up liquid was the thickest liquid as the marble took the longest to reach the bottom of this cup.
In Food Technology, the children have also been having fun creating Salad Faces this week with Miss Mills. They were extremely creative and have enjoyed trying a variety of fruits and vegetables over the weeks.
After half term, those that have been doing Outdoor Science will swap over to Food Technology and vice versa. Both groups have lots to look forward to! We hope you have a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you back on Monday 27th February.
