Autumn Week 1
Rainbow Fish
Welcome to Year 2.
What a wonderful first week we have had! The children have arrived at school very excited and ready to learn lots of new things.
We’ve started our year using the book “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister which the children really enjoyed. We spent time using adjectives to describe both the rainbow fish, and bubbles. Every child in Year 2 made themselves a beautiful, sparkly scale which we’ve put together (by the very talented Mrs McBain) to create a Rainbow Fish of our own. It’s on display in our corridor with some of the wonderful descriptive writing the children did.
In Numeracy we practised lots of different skills, including using number lines, hundred squares, number bonds, creating number sentences with dice and playing games. The children have impressed us with their hard work and positive attitude in Numeracy this week, well done.
Next week we begin our Circus topic, the first few weeks of which we will be using the Disney classic “Dumbo” as our film link.
We look forward to meeting you all on Wednesday 13th for the meet and greet between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.
