Woodland (Rubber) Band
Whittle your own kazoo: ot is it a duck decoy for an Anglo-Saxon hunter?
With a musical theme running through school life this year, it only seemed right to create our own instruments from the materials available on site.
Mrs Huggett expertly led the woodland kazoo workshops, where students implemented their prior learning with bowsaws and penknives to fashion their own whistles. It's true we could have used blades of grass as the vibrating sound source, but we opted for rubber bands instead (for reliability.)
So what happens to the pitch of the honked note when the length of the instrument shortens?
(Assuming the rubber band's the right size...)
