Happy New Year!
And we're back!
Hello and welcome back!
We hope you have had a lovely winter break and had time to rest, relax and have fun. The Reception team would like to say a massive thank you for all of the presents we received, we were extremely touched by your generosity and festive spirit!
Now that we are back, we are continuing to develop your child's understanding of numbers and their phonic knowledge. This week has been all about number 11 and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Your children have spent time talking about the story and using their knowledge of the 'FANTASTICS' to suggest their own thoughts and ideas about the characters and settings in the story. We have had some brilliant discussions about not only the characters but the wide range of vocabulary that we could use to describe elements of the story, one example is Q: How would Goldilocks enter the bears house? A: She would have to sneak in. A: Without a sound, Goldilocks tiptoed in.
The classrooms have been busy with the making of character masks, colouring different scenarios and writing their own versions of the story. Some children have even buried themselves deep into tables filled with rolled oats! Bizzare, but maybe it would be cool to hear the story from the view of the porridge...
We would like to encourage you that whilst sharing story time with your child, that you take a few seconds every now and then to talk about word meanings and have casual discussion about other synonyms that could be used. You would be amazed at what your children will remember!
