Once upon a time there was bright and cheery school, in this school there were some children. These children would amaze their teachers everyday and create marvellous masterpieces, awesome artwork and wonderful written pieces. Get the theme yet? Yes its Fairy Tales! We are well and truly stuck into the realms of fantasy and have been having an awesome week looking at Rapunzel.

We have had cheers, ahhs, oohs, and boos, we have spent a lot of time writing sentences about Rapunzel and the wicked witch and creating artwork that reflects the story we have looked at. We have also spent time drawing our own story maps, these maps navigate the reader through the story in a few concise, key points. Some children have even gone home to practise and create their own! Why not have a go at drawing a story map about the next story you read with your children, let them take the lead and see what happens, who knows where you will end up?

In Numeracy this week, we have had a big focus on bar modelling. The children have been using bar models to see how two numbers can make up a bigger number. We will continue with this next week as although your children have been successful in reading bar models and using them, we have only really scratched the surface.
