What we've been up to so far this term...
What an amazing start to Year 2 it's been! We've been having lots of fun in Design Technology making moving vehicles and alien puppets, as well as cooking up some yummy treats in Food Technology. Our teachers have been very impressed with all the new skills we have learnt, especially our sewing skills!
In English, we were inspired by 'The Girl and the Dinsoaur' to write dinosaur adventure stories and after reading 'Zog', we wrote our own set of instructions. We have learnt lots of interesting, new words along the way and our vocabulary is really developing. We are now focusing on poetry, based on the poem 'If I Were in Charge of the World'. We have had lots of fun using our imagination to think about the rules we would put in place if we were in charge, and we can't wait to put these ideas into our own poems next week!
In Maths, we have been working on our place value knowledge, and we are developing our understanding of different methods we can use to add and subtract 1 and 2-digit numbers.
We have been busy in Science investigating materials, making catapults and learning about what plants need to survive.
It's certainly been an exciting, busy term so far, and we can't wait to see what else is still to come!
