Year 5 Blog
On Thursdays this term, half the class will do Food Technology, creating culinary cuisines from Japan and France (where our link schools in Year 5 are based) while the other half, instead of doing Forest School (which we will get to do in the Summer term this year) will do Outdoor Science investigations – this means we get to make a mess and don’t have to tidy it up as it’s outside – it’s nature's and Mr Rouse’s problem!!
Last week, Year 5 spent an afternoon at church learning about and celebrating the Pentecost which is celebrated on the Sunday 50 days after Easter.
It might not look like it, but we spent last week singing along to 'Don't Stop Believing' by Journey!!
It was all very calm and peaceful, at the gallery (Year 5 classrooms) on Monday afternoon!
Be very careful when you need to tell the children off now, because they know Tae Kwon Do . . . and they're not afraid to use it!!
We have been learning about different types of 'Wild Weather' this term, and looked at how hurricances are formed and what to do in the (unlikely) event of a hurricane!!
A year group divided? When you think of what might cause split loyalties between a year group (a football rivalry, favourite popstars, who we want to win our favourite TV show etc) deforestation would hardly be at the top of your list.
REACH stands for respect, encourage, achieve, care and hard work and we were given some time this week to think about the 'R' in reach - respect. We're lucky enough to have volunteers who have come in and asked us to think about respect and what it means to us.
Is there a better way of bringing children, of all ages, together, then through song? Children in year 5 have been given the responsibility of being song leaders at breaktimes, tasked with leading and engaging children through song!
If you were ranking the greatest play writers it would go Year 5 at the top, with William Shakespeare and others as joint second!!
