Governors
Role: Co-opted Governor
I have been a community governor for a year. Previously, whilst my children were at Paddox, I was a parent governor for seven years. As well as bringing a parent’s opinion to the governors, I also bring skills from my working career. I am a Chartered Statistician and a trained mathematics teacher. I’m currently a lecturer at the University of Northampton, teaching and supporting students in mathematics and statistics. I love seeing students who were finding maths and statistics difficult improve and feel more confident in their work. As a governor, I am the assessment and maths lead. I see teachers in these areas during the year, monitoring what the school does for the governing body. When I decided to apply to be a governor, I worked at Ofqual, the exams regulator. It was there that I saw first-hand the impact that schools had on the pupils’ school life. I realised that if I wanted to question how the children’s school life could be improved, the best way to do it was to join the governing body. I have two children who have both been through Paddox, and I am committed to continuing to help support the school to be the strongest it can be.
