Role: Parent Governor at Paddox Primary School in April 2021.
Before I joined the Governing Board, I was member of FOPS and the Parent Council. I lead the Parent Traffic & Road Safety parent sub-committee which focused on ways to improve the safety of the roads surrounding our school.
The reason I became a Governor was so that I could continue to support the school alongside making sure the school is achieving their strategic objectives.
For context, both my parents left school with just one O level between them, I also received free school meals through parts of my childhood. Reflecting back, having the support of my teachers in conjunction with my parents was a really important part of my experience at school. This opened my eyes to what could be achieved academically and gave me the opportunity to experience a multitude of extracurricular activities.
I feel passionately that every child should have the opportunity to have a great education. With that said, the academic learning is just part of that. I wish for the children at Paddox to feel supported, encouraged and happy in their school environment. This in turn should enable them to flourish and achieve their individual best.
I work in a People Team for a commercial organisation and am responsible for our Equality Diversity and Inclusion strategy. I have worked in Europe and the Middle East and have experience in the commercial side of business in addition to consulting with businesses to improve their processes and procedures. I am curious and have the confidence to challenge and ask questions which aids my collaboration with the rest of the Board of Governors and Senior Leadership team.
