Governors
My name is Tony Meeson and I have been a Local Authority Governor at Paddox School since 2018. I serve on the Resources sub committee and I also have oversight of ICT. I was born in Norfolk but we moved as a family to Leeds, Bradford and Preston where I completed my secondary education. I was commissioned into the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment and served for 6yrs before going to Birmingham University to study history and politics. I then joined Warwickshire Constabulary and was posted to Rugby in 1982. The first part of my police service was as a reactive officer and then as a community beat officer covering Paddox and Hillmorton, a role I thoroughly enjoyed for many years. I then worked in the prisoner interview team. Finally, I worked in child abuse and domestic violence departments before retiring in 2010. I am married to Petra who until recently was a medical librarian at St Cross and then Walsgrave hospital. We moved to Fisher Avenue in 1990 and we have very much enjoyed being part of the Paddox community. Our daughters Kit and Sophie both went to Paddox School when Mrs Roberts was head and had a very happy time at school. I was actively involved with Friends of Paddox, chairing it for a few years. Petra was also the Clerk to the Governors and then a Governor. I decided to apply to be a Governor at Paddox School as I wanted to remain involved in the Paddox Community and as a way of supporting the school that gave our daughters a good start in education but also a lot of happiness. I’m deeply committed to the school and have been very impressed with the current high standards to which Paddox School’s staff aspire and achieve.
