Curriculum

Paddox Primary School’s curriculum design is grounded in clear principles that reflect the school’s values, pedagogy, and needs of all of our pupils. The curriculum is designed to engage pupils academically, personally, and socially through key areas, which include learning, wellbeing, pupil voice, engaging teaching and learning and curriculum enrichment.

The curriculum is designed to give our pupils the opportunity to:

  • Connect Learning: drawing links between different subjects and themes, reinforcing understanding.
  • Understand Learning’s Purpose: recognise the relevance of learning to their personal aspirations, both now and in the future.
  • Enjoyment: children to engage in challenging and enjoyable learning experiences.
  • Develop Skills: build practical skills across diverse engaging contexts.
  • Explore National Curriculum: engage in a cohesive, progressive exploration of the curriculum.
  • Foster Independence and Resilience: become self-directed and resilient in their learning journeys.

The school encourages active pupil participation, giving them the chance to:

  • Contribute to School and Community: make positive contributions to both the school and local community.
  • Explore Citizenship: become active, responsible members of society
  • Express Opinions Respectfully: share viewpoints on a variety of topics with respect and thoughtfulness.
  • Exercise Choice: make informed choices about issues that matter to them.

The school’s pedagogy supports an engaging and stimulating educational experience by:

  • Fostering Interest: sparking and sustaining each pupil’s curiosity and excitement for learning.
  • Encouraging Creativity and Problem-Solving: nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Supporting Natural Curiosity: embracing pupil’s curiosity as a foundation for learning.
  • Creating Memorable Experiences: providing rich, memorable learning experiences that enhance the child’s experience.
  • Promoting Innovation: instilling a sense of innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Enabling Reflection: guiding pupils to evaluate and learn from their experiences.

Paddox Primary School enriches the learning environment through:

  • Field Trips and External Activities: offering both on- and off-site activities that enhance understanding.
  • Outdoor Learning: utilising outdoor spaces to broaden learning contexts.
  • Partnerships with External Providers: collaborating with external organisations to extend educational opportunities.
  • Parent and Carer Involvement: inviting family members to engage in learning activities.
  • Utilising Quality Resources: ensuring access to high-quality learning materials, both in and out of the classroom.

These principles make up our curriculum at Paddox Primary School, where pupils are equipped not only with academic skills but with the resilience, curiosity, and respect they need to thrive both personally and academically.
